SSDA partnered with SNIA to advance Solid State storage quality standards
(June 4, 2009 Taipei, Taiwan) SSDA (Solid State Drive Alliance) announces today at Computex Taipei that it has completed an official MOU with SNIA (Storage Networking Industry Association) and their new body, the Solid State Storage Initiative (SSSI) to promote the SSD test standard and jointly foster the growth and success of solid state storage in both commercial and consumer environments. Upon finalizing the MOU, SSDA and SNIA are two independent organizations formed by member companies of their regions.
At Hall One of Taiwan International Convention Center (TICC), SSDA is making its debut tradeshow appearances at the Computex Taipei. "We are glad to be here to educate our missions and goals to the buyers and developers from all over the world", said Anne Tsou, the director of SSDA Marketing Committee. There are over 25 SSD product samples provided for exhibition from the member companies at the SSDA pavilion, and among these products the visitors will have the first ever look of SSDA Certified drives and IC boards. SNIA is also being promoted at the SSDA pavilion, the logo is displayed as a partnered association. "Through collaboration of both parties, SNIA will have better exposure to the vendors and developers in Asia, SNIA will also invite SSDA members to participate the works of Solid State Storage Initiative", said Phil Mills, the Board of Directors at SNIA, also the Chair of Solid State Storage Initiative.
As of June 2009, SSDA and SNIA will start to have a reciprocal hyperlink of official websites of each other; members of both organizations will also gain access to the current working document. “The MOU allows SSDA and SNIA to share some of the common objectives and put them into action by utilizing the best combination of resources from both parties”, said Tsou. "We also expect to have greater outreach of our common goals to the foreign companies who are currently developing the solid state storage products."
The MOU signed by both parties will have an infinite expiration date for as long as it may need to nurture the vendor and user communities about the solid state storage.

SSDA's debut appearance at COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2009
[June 8, 2009 Taipei, Taiwan] At Hall One of TICC (Taiwan International Convention Center), SSDA has successfully completed its first public tradeshow appearance. In addition to each member's own tradeshow booth, members of SSDA have an alternative site to expose their product samples to international buyers at the SSDA pavilion. Within nearly 30 solid state storage product samples displayed in the pavilion, there were significant numbers of visitors came to look for the first ever SSDA certified products.
